Belieeeeve me, we were not the first company to think about diversifying our product line. Many creatives have used tatami mat borders for: coin pouches, business card holders, wallets, hats, hair ribbons - you name it, someone has tried her hand at it.
In fact, a local fashion apparel store launched a handbag company domestically, exclusively in Japan, focusing primarily on the 55+ market.
But these handbags produced domestically needed some pizazz -
- some individuality
- more versatility,
- more purpose
- more meaning.
After all, not all women want to carry a brown copycat handbag.
This is where Maryse spent one year in the United States researching, discovering and learning - with one goal in mind -
